Pokemon Y couldn't they design a better character?

The first thing I thought when I saw the trailer for pokemon X and Y was, really? That's the guy? it's same frickin guy as Hilbert, just with a tracksuit and sunglasses. Personally I hope that the trailer was just beta footage and the actual design has not been finalized, because he's kind of a let down.

On an artistic note, this is my first picture drawn entirely via graphic's tablet. it's a little clumsy but I think it came out decently. I have to work on a better lining technique that won't make so many artifacts.
